Activities of Alkaline Phosphatase and Acid Phosphatase in Normal Endometriuin

Abstract
Endometrial enzymes were studied histochemically in the histologically normal endometrium of 50 control women.
Alkaline phosphatase is more prominent in the proliferative phase than in the secretory endometrium showing even distribution between glandular, and surface components. In glandular elements it concentrates in the lumenal tips of the cells, with scant or absent activity in the nucleus. Peak actin ityis noted around the ovulatory phase.
Acid phosphatase activity remains low during the proliferative phase. There is a marked increase in acid phosphatase activity during the progestational phase with peak. activity occuring premenstr ually. Both glandular and surface epithelium exhibit these changes.
